An edited version of a clinical trial to establish the effectiveness of Biophone to decrease the biological response to radiation produced by a mobile telephone. It should be noted that the original report refers to a trial of the Vector product manufactured by Ecoflow plc. Since publication of the report the manufacturers have changed the name of the product to Biophone. For the ease of reading this edited edition refers to the product as Biophone. Based on a report prepared by Theratronics The following people participated in the testing: Bjørn Johann Øverbye Ph.D. – Testing, protocol and chief director of the trial Kari Nartens Granlund N.D. – Practical testing procedures Kirsten Langås – Statistics Mats Wettergreen Nordlie – Chief computer manager. The hazards of non-ionising radiation have been known for around for the last 50 years. Western industrial societies have weighted economical benefit against health problems and found economy to be more important than public health. Numerous papers, articles and books on low-level non-ionising radiation seem to have done little to alert the authorities, even those coming from within governmental agencies themselves. Mobile phone companies downplay the hazards of radiation by using obsolete measuring devices and focusing solely on the Joule/cm as a means of determining any potential danger. By referring to the ‘energy density absorption issue’, very little heating effect is found and therefore the problem is claimed to be minimal, even psychological. Serious science focuses on the main issue, that of biological resonance. Bio resonance is a well known phenomena acknowledged for more than 60 years from when the first experiments with bio feedback started in the US. All living tissues such as organs, vessels, nerves, individual cells, even their individual parts (organelles, proteins, enzymes and DNA) have certain energy absorption resonant frequencies where they start to absorb energy more intensely. Under such conditions the manner of functioning changes, sometimes improving performance, but more often causing disturbance and malfunction. A considerable body of knowledge has been built up concerning radiation frequencies, wave topology (wave shape, pulse duration and the sequence of pulses) and their electromagnetic field strength. Solid facts now appear to cause alarm. The more simplistic heating tissue problem claimed to be the only reason for concern by pro-mobile phone users is now being scrutinised. A recent paper issued by the Independent Expert Group on Mobile Phones led by Sir William Stewart, famous British biochemist and leader of the Association for the Advancement of Science, states that mobile phone users may well experience long term exposure effects that will damage health. The paper ‘Mobile Phones and Health’ issued in April 2000 especially warned of the dangers to children. Sir William also scorned mobile phone producers for luring children to use mobile phones as essential ‘back to school’ items. On December 8th 2000 the German Academy of Pediatrics issued a similar warning advising parents not to encourage children to use mobile phones unnecessarily. They warned that mobile phone radiation was a potential health hazard for the young generation. Wolfram Kônig issued the same warning from the Federal Agency for Protection from Radiation (Bundesamt fûr Strahlenschutz). In a press release on July 31st 2001 in Berliner Morgenpost he urged people to consider that those sensitive to radiation may suffer ill effects, especially the younger generation. Several papers have been issued to warn pregnant women about the dangers of exposure to Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) and High Frequency (HF) non-ionising radiation. Professor Sianette Kwee heads the Department of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and is the Danish advisor to the European Union COST281 project group on the potential health effects from emerging wireless communication systems. He claims there is a substantial change in embryonic cells when exposed to ELF from power lines and Microwave radiation (MW) from mobile phones. The damage was greatest to young, fast growing embryonic cells. Dr. Gerhard Hyland of the Department of Physics University of Warwick, Coventry, England states several hazards in his report to the STOA Committee of the EU dealing especially with children and mobile phones. His findings are alarming since he points to the fact that there will be resonant phenomena (building up of received energy with no chance of escape) within the skull-cavity, especially in skulls of young children. Young children using mobile phones or being close to a phone will also absorb more than an adult up due to a much thinner skull. According to Hyland the 8.34 Hz and 2Hz pulses of current GSM phones lie in the range of normal brainwaves and may explain why such radiation is especially disturbing to brain activity. Again this is most dangerous in children having an abundance of slow delta waves before the age of 12 when the faster alpha waves appear. Immune damage is also a problem not to be ignored. In an article in the Sunday Mirror (December 27th 2001) headed ‘The Child Scrambler’, a paper by Spanish scientists states that 2 minutes of mobile phone exposure to the ear causes altered brain activity for up to an hour afterwards. This often results in abhorrent behaviour, psychiatric problems and even Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) like problems. This issue is that even more problematic than first considered. In the Marbella Institute study in Spain (quoted above) 87% of all children in the age group between 11-16 used mobile phones, but when confronted with the findings as much as 70% said they did not bother about the consequences. This means that regardless of scientific warnings the average child is more willing to listen to the manufacturers advertising and the recommendations of their friends rather than hard scientific fact. Not only children suffer, older people do as well. The World Health Organisation’s General Secretary Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Norwegian Prime Minister and chairman of the UN Brundtland Commission, now suffers the ill consequences of apparent overuse of unshielded PC technology, mobile phone radiation, and even a microwave oven accident injuring the her eyesight. The General Secretary’s health is now so fragile that no one is allowed to place a mobile phone, a PC or a bright light in her close proximity and she has announced that she will no longer hold the prestigious post of ‘Doctor to the World’. Dr. Knell Hansson Mild at the National Institute of Occupational Health in Umeå in Sweden has shown that GSM phone users report heating effects after only 2 minutes use and those using the phone for more than 60 minutes per day are 22 times more likely to experience heating effects to the head. Symptoms also investigated were problems such as fatigue, headache and burning skin. He concluded that the longer the exposure the more frequent the complaints. Professor Leif Salford at Lund University has shown that mobile phone radiation will cause an altered blood brain barrier and allow toxic elements to penetrate the brain more easily. Toxic penetration appears after only 2 minutes use of the phone and is probably a biological resonance effect. Henry Lai and Narandra Singh at the University of Washington in Seattle have found DNA damage to rats exposed to mobile phones. Dr. John Tattersall at Porton Down Chemical and Biological Defence base in Wiltshire found that Radio Frequency (RF) radiation damaged the hippocampus of rats brains, the area of major structure for memory and learning abilities. Biophysical Parameters Researching databases for ELF and HF studies on humans and animals found very little biophysical measurements as a basis for evaluating radiation hazards. Most papers dealt with morphological data: blood samples, cell morphology, and clinical studies. Most of the data available came from the extensive Russian data presented by Presman in his standard textbook ‘Electromagnetic Fields & Life’ and A. P. Dubrov’s ‘The Geomagnetic Fields and Life’ citing more than 1181 works published by Russian, American and other scientists. Theratronics received a database from the Russian space-agency containing records of more than 12.4 million individuals tested with similar, but not as advanced equipment as the MORA Super-plus. The prognosis equipment used the Voll-parameters in their older and incomplete form and the equipment used a simple measurement system open to electromagnetic noise, but still immensely valuable to validate our procedure. All biological processes in the body involve the transport of electrical charges and generate electromagnetic fields as predicted by the classical Maxwell formula. There is actually no process in our body where electro magnetism is not generated. The type of electro magnetism generated is highly specific for each process, therefore the increasing sensitivity of the latest detectors and amplifiers is essential to identify biological processes accurately. Today it is possible to identify radiation from isolated viruses and bacteria and use this data to identify the presence of these organisms more accurately than even the best microscopic or serological test equipment. The conclusions drawn from a vast majority of papers are however very clear: 1. All life processes create electromagnetic energies (signals) of
a tremendously complex nature not yet fully understood. To quantify biophysical parameters that can be used to monitor life processes by means of electromagnetic energy, extremely sensitive equipment must be used. The equipment used for the trial was the MORA Super-plus machine manufactured by the German company Medtronic. This machine is sensitive to human micro radiation in the range of 20 -200KHz, picking up voltage as low as 10exp(-6) volt. By using such equipment it is possible to analyse the reaction of living beings (even plants if necessary) and correct their energy pattern by the use of biofeedback technology developed by Morell and Rasche back in the sixties. The technology has been tried and tested by thousands of users all over the world. Through constant feedback from users various protocols have been developed to correct the bio-energy of various diseases, even those diseased through electromagnetism. A method for testing and evaluating problems caused by radiation has been established based on the Voll parameters and the MORA protocol. Before undertaking the Biophone assignment several test series were conducted on a number of ‘shielding’ devices until a proven protocol was produced and the validity of results substantiated. The Voll-parameters The use of specific electrical resistance measurements at certain points has been known for around 150 years, ever since the first Ampere meters became commercially available. In the 1950’s the German medical doctor Reinhard Voll categorised certain major points and by using standard voltage, found a normalised value in healthy people. Whenever these points deviated from the norm it indicated a pathological process and by analysing thousands of measurements he found which point best represented which part of the human body. This method came to be known as EAP (Electro Acupuncture) or EAV (Electro Acupuncture of Voll). Of all the Voll points those at the fingers have proven to be most useful. Each side of a finger and a toe contains an average of 5 main points reflecting the major parts of a certain organ (organ points) or the body (system points). Two of these are usually used for quick evaluation, the terminal points close to the nails and the meridian points used by practically all EAP users today. However, later on Voll discovered a set of points, one for each side of each toe and finger, that gave a good evaluation for each organ and system, called the Collective Acupuncture Points. The location of these points are known as the main Voll points and the reading on the Electro Acupuncture Meter based on the Voll and Pitterling specifications are the Voll-parameters. The base measurement unit of 50 on the MORA Super-plus corresponds to the normalised average value for a healthy person, as is the case with all instruments made to the Voll-Pitterling specification. By using the 40 Voll parameters (VP) a complete picture can be obtained of the functioning of the left and right side of the human body.
The probe of the MORA is applied to the chosen points and a reading is made visually on both a digital meter and an analogue meter. The reading corresponds to the conductance between the probe and a neutral electrode, either handheld or applied to the foot. A French doctor (Cantoni) made the discovery in 1948 that such active points had a lowered resistance to a galvanic current as compared with normal surrounding skin. When observing workers in a French paper mill, he noticed that static electricity created by the huge paper rolls made pieces of paper fly through the air and attach themselves to certain points on the skin of the workers identical to Chinese acupuncture points. Today after 40 years of perfection the electro-acupuncture measurement unit used in the MORA Super-plus is amongst the most reliable for an accurate measurement of the galvanic-skin response of the acupuncture points. While normal skin has a galvanic skin resistance of Mega- Ohms (10 exp (6) Ohm), active points have a resistance of Kilo-Ohms (10 exp (3) Ohms). The average of several thousand measurements led Voll and others to conclude: 1. The body has certain points that relate to the health of the body.
Readings from a MORA Super-plus show that a normal healthy point reads 50 units, on the average plus/minus 5 units. Thus we have a normal range between 45-55 units. Interpretations of the readings according to Voll, Niboyet, Morell, Rasche and others are: Reading Pathology found in corresponding organ/body part All measurements must be taken in a room without any disturbing outer electromagnetic fields (this is ensured by daily checking for background radiation of ELF, HF, WHF and radioactivity in the lab using Tri-Field meters and Geiger Counters), at 21 °C and 30% humidity. Our own statistics of several thousand measurements shows a variation of readings taken from the same point on different patients (never more than 10 measurements of the same point) of: x max – x min = 4 units. This gives an uncertainty of each individual point of 0.5 x 4 units = 2 units. Most readings are in the range of 40 -90 making a relative error maximum of 2/40 x 100% =5% which is acceptable in modern laboratory practice. This uncertainty will reflect on the sensitivity of a reading as to whether a reading is normal or abnormal, or in the language of statistics: Sensitivity= true positive / true pos. + false neg. Clinical cross checking of results obtained using this method have been conducted on many occasions. A patient with an established medical pathology is tested using Voll parameters and the results are compared. Or the other way around, a patient is tested using Voll parameters and then sent for medical examinations to establish the diagnose using X-ray, MNR, CT, blood tests, clinical inspection etc. In 1973 professor Yingqing Zhang tested 2074 patient with equipment similar to the Detectherapic equipment of Niboyet on 8 points on the hand later to be called, the ECIWO points, a subset of the Voll-points not normally used in the standardized Voll-series. Accuracy was on the average 95.3%, p-value less than O.O1. In 1982 Zhang and co workers repeated a new test, this time on 11338 patients. Accuracy was 92.7%, p-value less than 0.01 (less than 1% chance that the result was due to coincidence). Even more impressive is the prognosis protocol developed by the Russian space-program using a special probe, no more sensitive than the MORA probe. The tests were completed on more than 12 million points over a period of 20 years and found to be more than 90% accurate. Prognosis equipment and the reduced Voll-parameter protocol (using only the 12 bilateral organ points) is today an integral part of Russian space medicine. Modern research has verified that the meridian channels are not nerves but a special skin phenomena that dates back to the embryonic ionic skin channels that precedes the peripheral nervous system. There is therefore a clinical specificity to the points, a morphological substrate and a neuro-embryological explanation to the observed data. It may be concluded that using the MORA Super-plus and the Voll-parameters as described, both sensitivity and specificity is of the order 90% or more. Signal-theory To truly understand the Theratronic approach the reader must understand the concept of biophysical reality. The body’s energy field reflects not only classical pathological states as defined in traditional medicine, but also: 1. Psychological stress. Voll-parameters will identify all of these conditions. To identify one influence needs a certain protocol called the MORA protocol. The MORA protocol is based on the groundbreaking discovery of Doctor Franz Morell and diploma-engineer Emil Rasche. By using biofeedback they achieved a very high degree of bio-energetic correction in a short time. Repeated use of biofeedback, picking up the 20Hz to 200 Kilo Hertz (2x10exp(5)) resonance from the most active body part and feeding it back to the least active part a high degree of correction of the Voll-parameters were achieved. Over the years several filters have been introduced into the feedback loop to improve on the original Morell-Rasche discovery. A) ‘All pass filter’ that only amplifies the bio-energy of the body without altering its signal topology. This resembles the traditional biofeedback used in mental training when working with brainwaves. Ai) ‘Inverted all pass’. All frequencies picked up are phase-inverted 180 degrees and are ‘mirrored’ back to the source. If A does not work well Ai seems to work better. Due to these basic experimental discoveries a theory was created that stated that a human body seems to produce two types of bio-energies: those beneficial to life (A filter type) and those pathological, that are harmful to life if just amplified and fed back. These frequencies are regarded as parasitic frequencies arising in diseased organs, either due to degeneration of the organs themselves, or due to the very cause of the disease. Fields that force cells to vibrate in harmony with harmful vibrations are emitted from sources such as toxic minerals, microbes and harmful electromagnetic fields. To extinguish such harmful frequencies, they must be counteracted by their inverted mirror frequencies using the Ai filter. Parasitic energies No one fully understands the bio-energy of the living organisms, however parts of it may be understood. The situation is parallel to DNA and life. According to professor Ian Stewart DNA is not the core of life, just a necessary tool for expressing life. His much acclaimed book “Life’s Other Secret” points to one single fact; DNA is not the source of life, it is only its recipe book. In the same manner the electromagnetic field is not the full life-energy, it is just its outer cover. One major reason for this is the fact that life-energies are not just static noise, but a mixture of meaningful information plus static noise plus something else we currently have no concept of - an energy that can be transmitted over considerable distances between living beings. However, the electromagnetic aspect of the life-force is a very useful part of it and according to our ‘black box theories’ and by studying input and output (stimuli and response) we have a mental picture of the possibilities, although further research is required. 1. Living beings produce and emit EME (Electro Magnetic Energies) in
a wide range of frequencies (ELF to light). Some of this is noise; much
of it is information. Because living organisms are used to interact with the surroundings it is a nature of life to integrate itself into foreign energies to which they are adapted in the course of evolution. This forms the evolutionary basis for a living organism’s ability and even desire to adapt to foreign generators like a mobile phone. Unfortunately evolution is unable to adapt in such a short period of time to have a meaningful use of such energies and this can lead to destructive interference and parasitic frequencies. It is actually possible to detect the presence of mobile phones in the EME field of man with bio-resonance apparatus by picking up the parasitic energies created by the mobile phones. We have in more than 200 patients prior to our project seen typical patterns in the Voll-parameters indicating parasitic energies from mobile phones. One such characteristic is chaotic readings and an increase of EME. Another is ‘needle drop’ that indicates either an electromagnetic disease caused by damaging cell membranes and / or energy production. Summary Bio-energy as manifested by the body’s electromagnetic field and its photonic radiation; this is a recognised fact in the well-established science of Biophysics. Biophysics is today an integral part of the Russian Space Agency programme, the NASA space programme, it is the foundation for modern medical systems such as Computed Cotomography (CT), McMaster Nuclear Reactor (MNR), Environmental Evaluation Group (EEG) and Electrocardiogram (EKG). Unfortunately, it is also a major part of military science. A tested and scientifically based way to understand the working state of the human body is to apply the testing methods of biophysics to the science of acupuncture. Measurement of the body’s electrical properties, when applied to certain acupuncture points can make a valid statement about the functioning of the body’s internal organs. The accuracy and sensitivity of such testing is comparable, and even better than, current laboratory data used in conventional health service practise. It is perhaps for this reason the Russian Space Agency has adopted electrical measurements of the 12 bilateral organ acupuncture points on the fingers and toes as a standard for the supervision of astronauts health and the health of elite soldiers. An even more advanced method utilizes the 20 bilateral Voll-points discovered by Reinhart Voll that gives an even better reading of the state of the body’s internal functioning. The use of the highly advanced MORA equipment combined with the Voll system of measurements is a valid and sensitive method to both qualify and quantify how mobile phones influence the bio-energetic system of the human body. So far no such research has been conducted to test mobile phone effects and possible shielding devices in a systematic manner. To our knowledge only one company (in France) has used bio-resonance methods to develop shielding technology and justifying it by the Voll parameters, but their testing method is not complete since a simplistic method was used to measure and evaluate the effects. So far EU agencies have referred to previous laboratory experiments using the Joule effect (radiation energy emitted), not by actual measurements on living human beings under the influence of the equipment in question. The Trial Participants To produce meaningful results from a clinical trial it is essential to include sufficient people to reach a 95% confidence interval. According to Gauss statistics the number of subjects partaking must be 100/k where (100 -k) % is the confidence interval. So if we want 98% confidence interval we must have 100/ 2 = 50 participants. People were invited who claimed to have experienced health related problems through using their phones. (Note: Theratronics were instructed by Ecoflow plc not to include children or pregnant women as participants in the trial.) All participants were asked a few questions as to their past exposure history, that is exposure to cordless phones, mobile phones, PC, electrical heating, as well as the amount of time exposed each day and for how many years. Deviation from the normal range on all 21 unilateral Voll points (20 unilateral + 1 at the opposite side) would indicate the amount of health-defects in the working of the internal organs and tissues. The Protocol All subjects were tested within a very short time span of just five days to ensure a comparable time of the year and radiation background (both solar flares and the phases of the moon influence the bio-energy through cosmic radiation plus the state of the geomagnetic field). To ensure radiation free laboratory conditions we measured the laboratory with Tri-Field meters and removed all electrical equipment that might cause interference. The MORA Super-plus was run on batteries during the whole operation, the machine isolated and earthed, as were all cables, and BNC plugs were used to avoid stray radiation. All subjects had to remove watches, arm bracelets, rings, mobile phones and computers when they entered the laboratory for testing. Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Step 4. Step 5. Step 6. The Biophone Project Data 1. Number of participants. Age/sex distribution Age group Male Female People living in houses made from concrete tend to have more electromagnetic burden than those living in houses of wood, this is due to the use of iron in the construction of modern houses made from concrete: Houses made of wood : 36 4.Occupation Although not essential to the project’s conclusions, it is of
interest to note who participated: Our intention was to investigate mobile hazards and the effects of Biophone, but computers also give off radiation approaching the 2 Mega Hertz level and therefore could give rise to additional radiation. We reasoned this: Total radiation burden = Mobile phone exposure + computer exposure + ‘others’. If Biophone only worked on mobile phone exposure, we would expect ‘needle drop’ and spin inversion to be present at the second measurements, before any mobile phone was used in the laboratory. We could therefore test three hypotheses in the same experiment: 1) Computers give rise to similar problems as mobile phones, therefore
using Biophone on only the mobile phone would not present a meaningful
experiment. The last assumption was at that stage a long shot, which no one at
the laboratory believed, but my personal experiences in bio-electronics
have taught me that surprising results are not uncommon. 6. Mobile Phone exposure
Habit Number of persons exhibiting such. Changes noticed by participants Having gained knowledge of the participants background and habits (type of Mobile Phone omitted due to obvious reasons), we asked about personal problems they relate to exposure of radiation of all types: computers, high voltage lines, earth rays, radio masts and mobile phones. We asked them to consider all possibilities. We asked them to note if there was any change in symptoms before and after using Biophone for four weeks. We asked them to rate their problems on a scale from 0 (none) to 10 (serious problem). To make things simple to read we averaged the answers and noted the change. Problem noted in relationship to radiation No problem noted before
Rate= 0 Average before Biophone Average After Biophone Change Summary of Further Data and Conclusion As stated clearly on the cover this is an edited report and the full data and explanations covered from this point contained in the original require considerable knowledge and understanding. Readers requiring access to the data should read the complete report, as published by Theratronics, which is also available on the website www.radiationresearch.org. The use of the MORA Super-plus allowed measurements to be taken, in sufficient numbers, to provide meaningful, statistical evidence. The report concludes that the use of Biophone reduced problems related to electromagnetic radiation by an overall average of 42%. This is a significant figure based on a cross section of the population and would be expected to be far higher had the trial been conducted on children. The report also emphasises that the Biophone should not be mistaken
for a shield against radiation, but should be seen as a healing device
against the harmful effects of radiation.
